LS7 Crate Engine vs Service Engine?

Default LS7 Crate Engine vs Service Engine?

I traded for a LS7 engine for my 97 to replace my 422 that had a head gasket blow and melted the block and head.
I was told that the Crate engine did not have ti rods and the service engine did have the ti rods. Is this true? Any other difference in the 2 engines?
I got the service engine.

It had been my understanding that all LS7's have the TI rods.

They all have Ti rods.

Default LS7 service engine

Tom,

Your engine has the exact same parts as a crate engine.

the crate engine and service engine are produced on the same line with the same parts, at the same time. The service engine is designed to replace a blown motor in a production car, typically for warranty where the intake and misc. components can be used. GM has and does this with just about all engines to save them money. LS1, LS6, LS2 etc all have equals in both service and crate.

GMPP engine has sensors, manifolds, throttle body etc, no front accs, where a service engine is basically a long block using the existing intake, sensors, exhaust, etc.
as others have said, built the same way with the same parts, just less of them on the service engine
