Default LS7 factory intake vs. sheet metal?

Dose anyone have any comparisons between the factory LS7 plastic intake to a custom sheet metal?
Thinking of building a solid roller LS7 427, and looking at my options for a intake.

well the results in a sheet metal intake will vary dramatically depending on its design..
With that being said, the ls7 intake is very capable of making power. However,if the sheet metal intake is designed well there really shouldn't be anything that can beat it..

the sheet metal is good for the upper rpm range which would be optimal in your solid roller set up, os i say do it

Go carbed style for $400, sheet metal for $3000. Sounds like an easy awnser to me.

I want it to fit under my cowl and hood of my f-body WS6.
Peck makes a sheet metal that will fit.
Just looking for someone who has tried both for some kind of comparison.

I would go with a carbed intake and an elbow that fits under the hood. Even with a 90 mm throttle body and the elbow it is going to be a considerable amount cheaper than a sheetmetal intake.

A sheetmetal intake is built for the particular motor at hand and what you are doing with it so it's very hard to tell you what the difference will be. If you work with a good engine builder and they either design it or work with someone like Wilson Manifolds you will do VERY well with the sheetmetal intake.

How much power will you gain by swapping from a stock LS7 manifold to a ls7 carb manifold with 90 degree elbow??

Depends on the setup.... you can't just say it's worth 40hp, especially with the LS7 intake, it's rather good with a large cross section, long runners and decent flow.

the carb intake will work under the stock hood if you dont mind cutting it a little bit
