Default LS2 RPM Capability

I have a 06 C6 vette with a Thunder racing TRAK cam and comp 921 springs. Whats the highest rpm this motor can take. Car makes power to past 6800. would 6800-7000 shift blow the motor or can it take it for an extended amount of time???

Default if you like gambling

go to vegas instead....

6800 is likely as far as you want to push the stock rods.... if you went with some superior aftermarket rods, then knock yourself out....
others will chime in I am sure.. but unless you like buying new engines, 6800 is probably getting you where you want to go....

With upgraded rod bolts, it could be possible. There are people on here that rev to 7K with ARP bolts. It might not be the safest thing to do, but it's being done, stock motor + rod bolts.

Mine makes power up there as well. My rev limiter is set for 6800. I try to shift as close as possible to that. My shift light comes on at 6700. If your not doing it constantly, I think you'll be ok.

I would ,take it to a dyno and see what the max rpm ,you are making power
I have Katech rod bolts (2000 c5 LS1)and the car makes max power at 6600 so I tried 6800 because it is an A4.
NOTHING GAINED,so I lowered it to 6600 same ET REV LIMIT IS SET AT 7000

My setup: '99 LS1 stock shortblock with Katech rod bolts installed at 23K miles. 20K miles later with no problems at all. Set redline to 7100rpm with
AFR 205's, LS6 intake, ported TB, ported LS6 oil pump, LS2 Tchain, Longtube headers as upgrades.

I'm running a TSP 233/239 .600/.603" 112LSA cam in my motor. Pulls very hard up to redline. I'm sure with a FAST90 intake it would be even better.

Yes you are pushing it going to 7K.... but with a good tune, upgraded rod bolts and one not seeing that kind of RPM for very long..... you should be fine. I only rev it like this when drag racing. On the street and road racing I keep my shift points at around 6600rpm and if I have to pass someone I will spin it higher.

My car MPH's the highest when I spin it up there at the 1320.
