I am dying to get my hands on some of the stuff that is coming.

We are still going to do an LS based race class. Enough of this talk about dyno numbers LOL.

With a new Camaro coming they are already thinking about the possibilities.

OMG... yet another block from GM, with big cube capability. I got my popcorn ready on how terrible the sleeves will be in this new block... on how much extra aftermarket effort it will take to make the new LSX block (iron or upcoming aluminum) to meet the next set of aftermarketable "standards"

Before the current LS type blocks were produced many engine were made of cast iron. It was only when aluminum blocks were used did you see the wide spread use of sleeves. Of course racers for years have used sleeves to repair damaged iron blocks. We discuss the merrits of sleeves till the cows come home. The opinon of most race engine builders is that a sleeved cylinder (in an iron block) will give up some performance. Now in a moderate race or performance application it's not worth the extra $$$ to get a new block.

You can build the best and baddest sleeve in the world, but in the end you are only as strong as the ability of the sleeve to lock into the block. Because it's pressed in it does little to aid in the rigidity of the block.

The new GMPP Block is Cast Iron. Because of the casting it can be bored larger than a Aluminum block that uses sleeves.

THere are several others developing Aluminum blocks that will be much better than the current production type blocks. The GMPP block is targeted for the large cubic inch high horsepower applications.

what the BIg problem with the LS1 and 2 ally blocks anyway?? you can get great power out of them as standard (1000bhp isn't too difficult). ok if you want MEGA MEGA bhp then yes the iron block will be tougher and stronger, but still your not going but 2kbhp out of the thing!

and if you need cubes then you can get the ally block resleved with decent ductile iron sleves to make even more power!

and if you want even more power then there is the (soon to be anyway) warhawk example to!

i think these block will be great! its adding great comotition and alternatives to what already availabe/soon to be coming out.

aaannnndddd, and im not having a go here, how can anyone start slagging off this thing if they haven't even seen it yet???

thanks Chris.
