VIN Decode Is there anyway to decode the VIN to tell if the 99 LS1 is a Standard LS1 305HP or a SS with 320HP ?
I have decoded it to verify that it is a 99 LS1 from a Camaro. The party that sold me said it was a SS 320hp..(not that I beleive him..!) The engine/trans was already pull and the car gone.
Or is there something on the engine that will help in ID' it ?

Somebody correct me if i'm wrong......but i'm pretty sure the only reason the SS was rated higher in horse was because of the ramair intake and bigger exhaust.The engine is the same as any other LS1 unless for some odd reason you have a LS6.Traver
