Default Is it safe to go .030 bore on a LS2?

Yes or no, I see that the recomended max bore appears to be .020 on some websites. If I do go .030 and something were to happen with the block and it would need to be honed, would I be screwed and be forced to either buy a new block or a new set of sleeves? What cubic inch would an LS2 be with a 4.1'' stroke and .020 bore be?

You wouldn't be the first person to go 4.030" on a LS2 block. There are a few floating around. However, if you did need a rebuild, I'd say you'd be SOL on a bore/hone for reringing. The 4.020"/4.100" combo would net you 416 cubes. I highly doubt 2 cubes will make that much diffrence, and you'll have a extra .010" if you ever need it.

I know there are people going .030" over but GM recommend a max of .020"

I am never a fan of taking a brand new block out to its limits for the reasons Beast96z mentioned.

What about a 6.0 iron block. I know people are taking them to .030 to make 370s. Is that thier max?
