stage III LS1 heads. Not LS6 heads. Only flowed 304 cfm when they were rebuilt 6 months ago. Got them in 2002 with the engine from ARE.

Stock radiator, stock fans, stock everything cooling-wise. Never see's the 155 mark on the guage in the hot *** south Florida summers no matter what kind of driving I do, A/C "off".. A/C on full blast during city driving, it'll go to about the 190 area of the guage, never see's the 220 mark no matter what.

After I cleaned all the **** out of my condensor though, it was getting hot when it was clogged up with tons of debris.

With a 4.125 stroke how high would you rev it? For a DD would you want to keep peak HP below 6500rpm? Im interested in seeing a big cube DD build up.

Not as high, LOL. So no need to invest in the hyper-expensive valvetrain.

I have reved the crap out of my 4.125 stroke even though I read where people said they wouldnt hold together. Just the other day racing a turbo TA I didnt shift till 7k everytime and no problems. But I have only had this engine 3 or 4 years. I am looking to upgrade as well to bigger cubes and I will reuse my 4.125 crank.

This may sound crazy but who sells a LS7 intake? I haven't seen one yet, did a search and came up empty handed. Anyone care to help me out.

Scoggin-dickey and gm parts direct both sell it. The part number is in the sticky at the top of this forum. It's realllllly cheap, too.

Different supplier? I think GM is selling both at cost.

Shows how cheap things are really made for. The mark-up is ridiculous.

What do you guy think about a LS2 447, LS7 heads and intake, and a 240's or so cam! This seem like it would make for a pretty good combo. Any thoughts?

Don't forget the 1 7/8 headers to support that combo. If you're going to build a big setup like that, it would be worth it to get a custom cam that matches your goals and setup.

^^ Yea I already factored those in just wanted to get a general idea of the base engine combo and for sure it would have a custom cam. If I'm gonna put the time and effort into this sucka I am gonna have everything done once and DONE right.

But thanks for all of you input guys! I really do appreciate it.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone.

I've got 1 7/8" Grotts and I think they'll be fine for the 447ci too. But I'm getting new ones because these are a little scraped up from hitting things on the road like speed bumps and ****. I'm just gonna sell them with the engine. Might even go with a 2" for the 447ci. 3" off the collectors back to a flowmaster merge with a single 4" exhaust back to the muffler, single 4" electric cut-out after the merge =

.

The Kooks 1 7/8" stepped to 2" might be a better choice. Straight 2" is a pretty hard core header. I'm using the stepped on my 454. Good thing is, is that it's a shelf header. No custom work or price tag.

Is the 2" gonna offer any additional power? If not or even its just a little I agree its a better idea. Never thought of it actually.

How much $$$ are they? Who sells them?

I highly doubt a full 2" will offer anything but loss of TQ as compared to the stepped header. 1 7/8 stepped to 2" is a pretty healthy header and should hold it's own in the cube range were working with. If you built a hard core 500+ cube motor, you may want 2" then. Kooks sells the headers and the price is on par with there other street headers. Around $1k I believe.
