Default L92 Head Damage Question

I received my bare L92 Heads from SDPC yesterday and it looks like someone tossed them around a good bit in shipping. the cardboard reinforcement in the box does not cover the entire head...only about 85% of it, so I am sure that this happens quite a bit.

Is this going to be a problem? I do not want to deck these heads, so if it is an issue then I am going to have to get SDPC to replace them.

dude.. that is not that big a deal. maybe just take them down with a hand file, or a buffing wheel. down is much better than up.

I'm not really concerned about Head #2, but Head #1 has a pronounced bulge.

I agree. The same thing happened with my ET 265's. Take a flat file and remove the bulging areas. Since the dings are so close to the edge, there's not really any danger of hurting anything. Even with head one, just smooth it out. If you feel it's that big a deal, get a new set or have a shop deck them .002-.003".

or try a machinist's stone to flatten out the bottom without any file ridges.

You're going to mill them anyways. That will take care of it.
