L92 heads: Rocker and spring ??

Default L92 heads: Rocker and spring ??

Anyone runner a big solid roller spring (1.550dia 230psi+ seat)with the heads? and what adjustable rockers can you run? Read they are thin under the spring pocket and would like to confirm.

Also are the factory valves hollow stem like the LS7?

I assume only the intake valve is hollow being so big, correct? If so, is it considered light? Not really many options for such a big/odd valve.

Haven't run a set in the L92 head yet but for what it's worth, we use a thin spacer under a spring seat so we don't have to cut into the head very much for a 1.55" dual spring in our super stock LS1's. They are running 320 lbs seat pressure and spinning them 9000 RPM without any problems.

If they are hollow, they wont be strong enough for a big solid roller spring spinning near 8000 rpm.

I searched this site for rocker options and it looks like there are none for the offset intake, you have to use the factory offset L92 arm. If the shaft mounted the same you could use an LS1 shaft (jesel/t & d) setup and change the intake
arm. How much is the offset?

I'm doing a hydraulic setup and only plan on spinning 7500 rpms.

L92 valves are solid stem, so are LS7 intake valves. LS7 intake valves are made from Titanium and are made by Del West, LS7 exhaust valves are sodium filled.

I'm thinking of going with Morel lifters because I'm not so sure if the GM Performance Parts Race lifters will handle the weight of the 2.16 intake valve. As far as the rockers, I guess my only option is to buy a set of stockers (8-L92 intake/8-LS1 exhaust) and have the Harland Sharp mod done to them. As far as springs, the Patriot Extreme Gold Dual Springs seems like a good option.

that would be much appreciated, i'm going to be trying a solid roller l92 head in the next few weeks and i would rather not try and re-invent the wheel. using the .060 spacer how much do you think i'll have to take out out the head?

would you recomend running a .060 taller valve?

That shim or spacer thickness will vary depending on the required installed heigth of the spring your using.

Has anyone ran a solid cam with the stock rockers? The only way to set valve lash would be to shim the rocker stand. This seems the only option with the L92 heads.

I called GM performance parts recently regarding the valve material on the L92 heads. Both the Intake and Exhaust are a solid stem design.
The intake valves are made of a "silicrome" steel material that is hardened and tempered per GM. The exhaust is plain steel.
Since I will be running a twin turbo setup, I am going to sell the assembled heads I have and go with the bare castings.
Ferrea makes a 1.60 Exhaust valve in their "super alloy" with a 24* tulip head that will be more reliable with a turbo setup.
I have not found a source for the 2.16 Intake, so I guess I will have to take my chances with the OEM valve.
Does anyone know how much the "Harland Sharp mod" will cost?
