Default cam sensor question

Im wondering if the cam sensor on an ls2 has to be aimed in a certain way. because the tab that bolts the sensor to the engine has broke(from trying to pull it out) and it didnt come out.... would this cause any problems? i guess it is hard to explain what im talking about.

I believe it is just a hall effect sensor and as such it should not care.

You need the tab, that's how the sensor is grounded to the block. Otherwise the sensor would not work. How would keep the sensor in anyways, duct tape?

The sensor is a hall effect switch, it grounds through the PCM on the low reference ckt..
