the overall volume of the chamber has nothing to do with how many CC's drop you will see milling the head...all that matters is the cross sectional area of the chamber and the thickness you're milling off...a chamber that has less quench area (for the same bore size) will drop more CC's for the same thickness you mill off because the cross sectional area of actual chamber is higher, a chamber with a larger quench area will drop less CC's because of the smaller cross sectional area...but there are too many other geometry issues going on to just assume that a chamber with an initially larger volume will drop more CC's for the same amount milled off.

^^^^^ That's more in-depth that I could ever be. Like I said, the 1cc thing was something I had read before.........

And since the L92 combustion chamber is larger diameter--

Cometic also makes a gasket with a .040 thickness on a 4.060 bore>>Good find, gman!

mine are already on. but when i put them on, they were where it seemed they should be, even with that bevel at the top of the bore. so i dunno. i might as well find out the hard way. btw my gaskets are 4.030 - .030

Let me know ASAP. I just now, at 2:23am, thought maybe i could just open a gasket package and stick on the head and see where it lays, but, then i doubt i could return them if need be.

Back to the original question, what are the trade offs when going thinner, can one go too thin for a certain compression ration, and what gasket materials are best when going thin. I know our options presently are limited but like everything else the vendors will start filling the demand, I just want to plan ahead.
