Promod rod Vs Crower Vs Compstart
Saw a set of Carillo lightweight A beams go for $550 on Ebay a while back. I got in the bidding war but couldn't keep up. Otherwise I guess they would have been $1600 or higher.

Crowers make many many different rods and yes I have seen the Crower Sportsman I-Beams bend. Many people on these LS1 boards use that rod and I think it's a good NA rod and light but not a good power adder rod. The nicer but way more expensive Crower rods are probably much stronger.

Many of these are used rods and are sold for reason however. Maybe 10 different guys on this board have scattered engines using these old NASCAR take out rods. I know as I have fixed three of them. A steel rod letting go usually takes the whole bottom end and more with it so be careful and send them back to Carrillo etc. to be inspected and checked for cracks.

Maybe they were made to the wrong size or they ordered too many?

I'm a huge fan of the Callies Compstar rods. I have used them in quite a few customer LS1/LT1 builds. They are very hard to beat for the $$. The rods are ready to run as is out the box and come standard with ARP 2000 bolts.
If the customer doesn't mind spending the money on a more expensive steel rod, I use Manley billets or Carrillo.
I have had problems with the Pro Mod rods in past as well. They are better rods out there for less money.
