Stock Crank hp?

The number of stock LS1 crankshaft related failures can be counted on one hand. They are stout even though not a forged unit. With rolled fillets on the main journals that helps to strengthen them... having 6 bolt main caps is another bonus.
How much power do you want to make and how do you propose to get there? ie n/a, nitrous, force induction....
Forged cranks are only around $600-750.... so it isn't much to upgrade to a stronger one if you have any doubts.

I've gone 8.50's at 168 with a stock LS1 crank in a 3700lb car. Crank was in perfect condition when the motor was pulled apart.
Harlan I believe went 8.20's or 30's at 170 with one also.
Were going to see what a LS7 crank can do in my next build. Looking for 7's.

And the stock crank in my truck has 30k+ miles on it at 12psi, figure that's about 500RWHP with the stock 5.3L heads on it. The crank itself has a little over 55K miles on it.
don't believe everything you read in a book
