need info on 408 andl92 heads

Question need info on 408 andl92 heads

Hey guys im new to this site but owned f-bodys for sevral years now.thanks in advance for any help.I currently own a 01 ws6 and iam planning on building a 408 iron block but i havent made up my mind on what heads to go with.I want to make 500+rwhp NA(that my goal) ive been following info on l92 head,but my question is,what all will i need to use these heads other than the l76 intake.will i need to upgrade my ls1 computer and harness to an ls2 style,or will my ls1 stuff work.

should be able to use all yoru current stuff. i plan on using my truck computer for my setup...just going to be fun tuning the new setup

You can re-use 8 of your rocker arms but the other 8 have to be replaced with the L92 specific rockers. I can't remember if its the intakes or exhuast rockers though. Probably need the rocker pedestals, too, but not sure on that one.

MAP extension harness, L92 pedestals and L92 intake rockers.

What's the reason for the iron block? For an NA setup an LS2 block would do nicely. I believe there are a number of reliable 500rwhp aluminum block engines around. Unless of course you need the extra weight.

and most of the time machine work will be more tedious and have to be sent to a more reputable place when dealing with aluminum stuff. Iron is much easier to work with overall besides it being alot cheaper in price...besides whats 86lbs more, either add more mods or strip the car to compensate for the weight ...jus my .02
