Nice setup.

You should be in the 530 rwhp/470 rwtq range since this combo tends to make 500/450 in most of the 402s that have it.

you might want to consider a 1 7/8 header if you might be camming it up in the future.

Thought about that, but this a conversion. A LME built power plant that's being shoved into a 1st gen. Hooker makes the swap headers to fit at a resonable price, got em Jet Hot coated so I guess I'm stuck with them. That was one of the reasons Bryan at LME gave for porting the exhaust, to compensate for the size of the tubes.
Any thoughts on the cam of today and tomorrow? what would you change? I wanted this to be a simple N/A engine with low end TQ and ample power

Yes, for a 500+rwhp LS series 427 motor 1 7/8 headers are a must to squeeze all the power out of that bad boy and to prevent any chance of choking her!

Thanks all for the nice comments. I'm like a kid on Christmas morning, the motor is being shipped today, should get it on Monday. If everything goes well (fingers crossed) then I should be poundin pavement in about a month. I thought about a Procharger on my 383 carbed motor, but with this rendering of my project I decided that I would keep it simple, a N/A "no replacement for displacement" power plant.

I was hoping Jason would comment. I was told the needle bearings may have a tendency to fail, with the mod it should prevent that. Apparently with offset rockers it stresses the configuration and possibly break the bearings. I have no personal experience with this so I must refer to the builders and experts. I wanted the motor built with the desire for durability, longevity and reliability. I know of the quality of Katech so any comments are appreciated.

Hey there SSDave.......my 427 is so close to yours it's not even funny! My cam is a 234/242 on a 114 LSA and I'm running a little more compression(11.6)but other then that it's about the same.I have the Wiseco's also.I went with the rocker mod also to be on the safe side.I want some dependability.I have yet to get it tuned yet and I only have a few miles on it so not sure on any numbers yet.It seems to have a little snort though.I'm going to use this cam for awhile till everyone gets these things figured out, then maybe go big!Later Traver
