Default 440 bbc out 408 L92 in

so i've been reading and researching this for awhile. and looks like i would
be performance ahead if i were to pull out my 440 in bbc (650hp) and install an LS based engine of similar size. considering the weight difference and all.
my current combo. is an iron oval ported(340I,234E @.700) bbc with a dominator carb, large solid roller and 13:1 compression and a
plate system. thru a thm 400,10" 4000, 9" 4.29, with a total race weight of
3350#'s the car is a 70 nova round tube back halved 4-link car with 31x10.5wx15's. car runs 10.5's on motor and 9.30's on the bottle. the car is
extremely nose heavy (55%-1820#'s) at present. would think i could loose
a ? lot of frontal weight just by switching to this style of engine. and not
loose any horsepower. would like to here from some of you as to
1:how much weight i could loose over the iron bbc (685 with iron intake).
2:will the aluminum block take 800-900 hp on the bottle. if not lsx block
would be my next choice.
3:would you keep the carb or run injected and could i use an hp turner and stock ecm to get to my hp goal (800-900)
last what engine mods to get me to the 600hp n/a.
this is a strip/street car 95%strip 5% street.

any help would be appreciated - thanks great site.

you will save about 260 lbs of the front which will make hugh differrence. I would go with the efi and get the streetability of that.

Oh, you mean the aluminum block. Usually "408" cubes mean the iron block and "402" the LS2-based aluminum block because most people don't like to go that thin with the cylinder walls on the sleeves.

It is possible to do a 408 aluminum though.

efi would be a plus a i often dream of a twin turbo set up but without having to buy
everything new and a $1100.00 dominator on my current combo.going with the carb
seems to make dollars not cents. the car would love the loss of 260# off the nose
this would bring the weight bias to 51%. i would have to go with a glass nose, aluminum heads, light brakes, control arms, to get close to that weight. hum change
the motor or hange the whole front half of the car. to keep the performance i would
only need roughly 550rwhp n/a and 750rwhp on juice. anyone else have thoughts on
what would be the best way to get this old iron into the 800-900rwhp range.

thanks for the reply chuck

knight- not sure of the block i would use or the exact cid, looking for
some insight as to what i can get out of the new L92 over 400 inches
or an LQ9/lsx block going to squeeze it about 300-350hp from the step.
the max hp would be 800+. can't afford a turbo and already have the nos
and carb to go that direction. looking at the bore of the L92 (4.062) could
put a 4.00 stroke with that and go 414cid, with a set of L92 heads ported
and 13:1 static, solid roller, and carb intake w/fogger should get me the
power but will it live.

Default anyone with input

would have thought some of you would like to throw in your thoughts
on what it would take to get this kind of performance from your choice of
bullets. besides never got a clear answer as to what the weight difference
would be iron LQ9, aluminum L92 is exactly from a iron bbc

also what would you all do, run the juice you already have or change to a
turbo combo. lets here it - need some motivation. i would do most of the
fab. work myself if going turbo. so how about somemore input on this
