aluminum rods for the street?
It seems that the GRP and the Jaeger rods (can't find 'em anywhere) have a good rep, and are used in a lot of race builds. Now I have also read that the aluminum rods flex, and possibly distort more so they need frequent inspection which makes them unacceptable street components. Does that seem to be the consensus? couple more questions:
Anyone build a motor with aluminum rods that does street duty? Seems the LS7 titanium units are working out, but I know titanium has different properties. If you do have such a setup whose rods did you go with, and what specifications?
Many have said lightweight steel units function just as well, but I cannot seem to find sub 500g steel pistons. Anyone care to point some out to me that would work with a ls7 diameter piston?
