it would be stupid for gm to not have manual version. even a dam 5 speed will
do, doesnt have to be t56, but would prfer it
as long as it can handle up 500-650lb tq/ft. like t56

I like the sound of the V8 in the Colorado. Looking forward to checking one out for sure.

Seriously. T56 AND 4x4 would be PERFECT. It would make me hold on to my crashed up hunk of junk that I'm finally driving again until this was on the market.

Scotty Rocket, keep the info coming please.

If M30 is still 4l60 then I assume it is the same 4 speed . The T56 is a nice idea, but I hate to think of the nightmare in a 4X4 truck. My Firebird ate 5 transmissions under warranty. Then there is the good/bad clutch thing. If they can get it right the T56 in a 4X4 would own all on the street. But I doubt they re-engineer the chassis for one option that not many people will order.
Bring on the 6 speed auto .

Its about damn time. Offer it with a 4x4 and manual trans and I'm suddenly VERY interested in a Colorado. Would be even better if they'd do a heavy duty type 4x4 setup similar to the old ZR2 - that would be the **** for me.

Go to www.gmc.com and build one, THE 5.3 V8 IS A NO COST OPTION!!! Extra cab and Crew Cab only. And it can be installed in the base trim 4X4! 2WD requires SLE 3SA trim or above.

Wow! That is almost too hard to belive. I just specced one out with a 5-speed and a posi for $19,460. Plus there is $1500 in incentives right now. If this holds, I know what I am replaceing the TBSS with...

Bummer - looks like the Z71 option is only available with automatic. Anyone know exactly what the Z71 option includes?

Seems you can't get a manual tranny in a crew cab.
I didn't even see the Z71 option. Must require a higher trim level than I used.

Yea, Z71 isn't even listed until you get to the 3SB trim level and at this level manual trans is no longer available. Carpoint.com states that Z71 is only available with A4 (that's 2007, but appears to be same here). Seems like the Z71 option is basically the front rollbar, shocks, flares, and "high stance suspension". That doesn't seem to be near as extensive as the old ZR2 package. Seems like one could opt for the 3SA trim level, get the manual trans + 5.3, and option it out to be similar to the 3SB with bucket seats, etc. Flares can be added, shocks/rollbar can be replaced. Just not exactly sure what they mean by "high stance". Shackles and TB keys/adjust should duplicate that...?? Guess I'll have to cruise by the dealer and check out the difference between the Z71's and the regular 4x4.

One thing has me suspicious, though. Notice how on the 3SA engine option choices, the I-5 is a $1000 option and the V8 is $0. That smells to me like they just haven't determined the option pricing for the 5.3 yet. Otherwise, why the hell would anybody pay $1000 extra to get the 3.7 vs the 5.3?

I live in Michigan and I have always gone 2WD, even on pickups. Less stuff to break. Usually I put 200 lbs of landscaping rocks up against the tailgate and I never have a problem, even in heavy snow. Plus, I think they all have to have stabilitrac pretty soon which helps a lot too.

Guys, i wouldn't hold my breath on the 2wd or manual. I never seen any testing run with a 2wd or the manual trans. The 2wd can't work right now due to packaging of emissions equipment.

From what i know it is going to have larger wheels and tires... P265/70R17

So it would indicate that marketing will be pushing something like the Z71 package for this.

Rumor has it that there may be some changes in the engine line up for the colorado/canyon later on....but not confirmed as of yet.

I have a huch that something is wrong with the GMC online build tool. First I heard about 2WD. I thought the 2WD was getting the same ride height as the 4WD due to wheel hop problems? If they have the same clearance then what woudl cause the issue?

I didn't go back through the thread. Was it ever mentioned what rear would be in it? 7 5/8" or 8.5" 10 bolt?

I have no idea what's in them now but, would imagine it's the former of those two.

I got another question.

What PCM is being used in these new V8 Canyons/Colorado? E38? P12?

That's too bad. I don't really understand the current thought process by the OEM's to pretty much disregard the manual transmission option on the up-level 4x4 trucks. I suppose they're just catering to the average consumer that prefers form over function and in that case the slushbox goes right along with the leather interior and the nav system...

Hell, IMO one of the most badass setups I can think of is an HD2500/3500 Duramax Z71 with a 6-spd manual
