Default 59cc heads + LS2 + X3 cam

Got an awesome deal pending on Patriot II heads and was thinking of mating them to my LS2 + G5X3 cam set-up. However, they're the 59cc heads. Will these heads be alright with this set-up or are in internals gonna shoot outta my hood and make a sharp 90* turn towards my face, proceeding to bitch slap me for being so stupid? Obviously a good tune and 93oct gas is a necessity, but any other things I will NEED to make this work, if it can work at all? Adjustable timing chain was something I heard should be done with this, is that true? Anything else?

Thanks for all the help folks ... really want these heads, but want even more for my engine to be safe.

The heads with 59cc milled heads wont give you enough P/V clearance with the g5x3 as per LG. If you flycut and have 1cc net releifs (.060 for intake and .030 for exhaust) then the static compression will be 11.7:1. -2cc reliefs would be about 11.5:1. This is with a .054 gasket. Those static compression levels are fine for that cam on both a 114 and a 112.

93 octane?

The heads he was referring to were not milled.

Notching pistons still makes them usable on the compression issue.

You can run small chambers like that on pump gas with large duration cams like he's talking about running. If the compression was an issue, you'ld want to leave the piston tops flat and polish a few ccs out of the chambers.

Called up Patriot today and they told me not to do it. Really tried to convince them (and myself) that there was a safe way to do it, but they told me again and again that it would not be safe and not to do it. Talk about service huh? I'm sure there are people who would just want to make the sale and say it was A-OK.

Either way, these heads were sold before I could get them anywho ... looks like back to a cam-only + NO2 set-up for me ...

You can do it but you need to flycut
