Default LS7 Conversion Done - 66 Vette

We finished our '66 Corvette LS7 conversion and shipped it to the car owner. Started off simple enough and $150,000 later it is a real beauty. Crate LS7, Katech Hot Cam, BigStuff3 controller, Viper T-56, 2000 Corvette suspension on an SRIII chassis. This is the car that cracked an LS7 sleeve durign dyno testing. New long block and it is a beast! The real engineering was in the packaging - fitting all the hardware in the space available. Yeah I know the wheels suck but the owner makes the final decisions!

Wow, how the hell did you guys fit all that in there! Looks amazing, good work. What kinda of numbers did it put down? Whats it all weigh?

Some more pics - I guess the conversion area is more appropriate but this started as an LS7 conversion and ended up somewhere else. The chassis is a work of art and I can not say enough good things about Mike at SRIII Motorsports. The Bear six pistons brakes are over kill but look sweeeet installed. As to rwhp we are a little in the dark. When the first engine took a dump (don't get me started) we decided to be cautious with breaking in the new one. 470 rwhp at part throttle during break in testing but no full throttle numbers yet. We used the factory exhaust manifolds which cost us both torque and hp. However we trimmed weight all over the place and the car is down to 2900 lbs. A real rocket and the side pipes sing a beautiful tune!

It ended up under the driver's fender with the body on. Makes oil changes easy because you can access from below. Filling it is a pain in the butt. BigStuff3 made this a beauty to tune and I learned a lot about EFI flexibilty and the wonder of a wide band O2.

BS3 is a complete stand alone engine management system. Speartech is a company that makes conversion harnesses for the stock PCMs.

BS3 allowed us to do anything we wanted to the enigne now and down the road (blower on the horizon). Factory ECU would require a third party each time BS3 includes the tuning software. Also we started this 18 months ago before anyone had an LS7 runnning a stock ECU.

The chassis was ~$9,500 with shocks. All the suspension etc was extra. All the pictures are in albums at www.performancecarfactory.com. Chassis guy is www.sriiimotorsports.com. Mike is really great to work with.
