Default LS7 OEM Main Fasteners

I was talking to a buddy earlier about his LS7 block he just bought was starting to measure. Then I asked if the oem main fasteners were torque to yield and he said he wasn't sure.

Obviously not somewhere to take a risk. It is an brand new block, and would probably stand up to being torqued a few times to measure clearances but I wanted to be sure for his sake.

For my forged LS6, I bought ARP studs. When I build a LS7 it will be the same.
Yes they are expensive, but worth the peace of mind.

Agreed, but the owner doesn't have the time to align hone the block. Also the class requires OE fasteners, some off the wall stock like road race class. He read on here that he can bring the bolts to their stretch up to five times before needing replacement. So he feels comfortable that he can get his mains dialed in within that margin.

The service manual states that the side bolts need to be replaced but the main four are re-usable. I think (opinion only) that there is a difference between being stretch and unloaded in dry set up versus stretched and loaded by a running engine making power over a period of time. I have a broken LS7 so I will be discovering all this soon enough!
