Default I am afraid to hit the nos button

i have a 98 firebird 6.0 truck motor and 243 ported heads 585 cam flat top pistons 373 gears and longtube headers ls6 intake and lid with truck maf sensor. Ready to go 11.88 dial ins 114mph . I just put in a 150 shot of nos wet kit. with race tech fuel punp. 4 degrees out of the timing with tr-6 plug. I think it is ok but 10 bolt rearend I am afraid. 225psi cranking compression will it blow the heads off. thanks Let me know what you think

No, your heads should be ok. Its actually the head gasket that usually blows. But you nothing to worry about on a 150 shot as far as heads/gaskets go. If your worried about the 10-bolt, just set your rpm switch up high to about 500 or more above your stall speed, that way, you'll hit the 10-bolt with motor only (until you get more courage).

the car is fast na at 11.88 and with 150 shot of nos will the auto trans with a 2000 stall expold or a drive shaft twist off. I hope I enjoy the 150 housepower not wreck my cars trans and rearend. but I am sure going to try the button soon just to see what will happen.

The floorboards are known for blowing out on our cars, once you add some cross-bracing to them you should be good to go. And the plastic intake manifolds can't take the pressure of nitrous very good, you should get an intake manifold saftey switch.

should I get a frame connecter. should I go with 100 shot if the intake plastic is weak or will it hold 150 shot. what is a intake switch. I will spray maybe 5 times a year. I want to dyno a big number and then go with a 100 shot when it is done for car day to day driveing. The motor na is bad as hell 11.88 at the track is nice so I dont want a full race car when I am done but If I need something let me know . No stoping now. Kevin Wisc

You'll get more responses to this in the nitrous section. Post it over there for some expert advice.

(edit) Nevermind... I just saw that you did.

Good Luck!

i dont prefer using 150--Nos shot... on a stock pistons,, u'll need aftermarket pistons,ex TRW etc... n its important to check out the rings gab.. so to be in the same side use only a Dry shot which is up to 100hp,, n 2day later i'll tell ya the recommended rings gab

Good advice especially since your own post makes it clear that you are worried about breaking important driveline/drivetrain parts with 150 shot. I would go no higher than a 100 shot (on a stock motor0 if I were you and make sure its set up and tuned by a someone who REALLY KNOWS what they are dong in the LSX world and has a proven track record (and not some alley mechanic using your car as guinny pig)!

I hate you for calling it NOS....

I have sprayed 250@ a H/C,stock bottom end LQ9. Over 100lbs of N20 @250 and over 400lbs @150 and 200.

Get the tune right, keep up on maintenance, start calling it N2O or Nitrous, make sure all of the safety items and there and a 150 will do not damage.

If you call it NOOOOOOSSSSSSSSS and then spray it the Nitrous fairy will destroy your motor then pop out of the engine and violate you anally.

Good luck with that.
