Most sponsors stock a 402 since it is a pretty common build. You should be able to pick one up in the $4k range assembled. It's easier to go ahead and order it assembled since most of the tools needed are expensive and would only be used once. I used Erik at HK enterprises, but many sponsors build this motor.

It's fun building it yourself if you have full access to a machine shop

What do you mean by fully assembled? If I was to purchase a 402 stroker what exactly would I need to be able to drop it in if anything?

Fully assembled means assembled short block. Meaning the block has been machined to accept the new parts, and all the crank/rods/pistons have been balanced and installed into the block. You can go further by buying the long block, which includes all the covers, heads, valvetrain, and intake. Then you would only need to swap over your accesories and install.

My LME 408 cost about 8k. That cost includes AFR 225 heads assembled.

TOO MUCH is the short answer. But, with installation and budget heads it was $12,000.00 in round numbers.

Don't skimp on the heads and cam.

Scoggin-Dickey has good prices on 402, 414, and 417 shortblocks.

I know I'm well over $30k including supporting mods. Motor was around $20k w/ heads/intake.
