In no specific order...
Sometimes your best bet is to find a local shop who cannot afford to screw-up and replace a 10k motor, those are the guys that will check everything 30 times before final assembly and will keep meticulous records of the tolerances built into the motor.
I have had 2 motors go bad from a very large vendor on this board before i learned my lesson, both times the vendor did nothing to correct their mistakes.
Motor 1) Wrong rings 1.5mm,1.5mm,3mm in a 1/16, 1/16, 3/16 groved pistons, the rings never seated and burned 1qt oil per 1k miles it was pulled and torn down at 1k
Motor 2) No thrust bearing installed on the crank, it walked and scored all the bearings. motor ran for 15 min, put the clutch in to put it in gear oil pressure started dropping and motor was gone.

Now that REALLY SUCKS and would be VERY interesting for perspective buyers to know the TUNER(S) who built you a faulty LS motor and would not stand behind their product. That REALLY SUCKS and makes many people skittish about spending $10K for a new LS stroker motor!

i mean nothing in this world is perfect-**** does happen but it should not happen if it is your profession-
i strongly believe that a engine builder should stand by his products as long as the customer does not tamper with it as stated by the engine builder-
What do u do-
Just move on and learn for next time-but twice is really harsh-

My vote is to go with Erik @ HKE and Greg Good (aka The Dream Team). For that amount of money, do it right the first time. You will thank me later.
We are just shy of 500 passes on our HKE/Greg Good 408 and we will be finishing out the year at the Innis,Texas Divisional finals points race running pump gas as always. It's an easy call IMO.
Good luck with whatever you decide.

I think I lost a rod bolt last night racing my buddies 240, about midway through 3rd gear it went, car shut off and started smoking like crazy, found chunks of piston, head, and a chunk of an oil ring in the exhaust and the intake. If you want to check out the car it is sitting in my garage right by campus, im towing it back home (ellendale) on saturday.
