Ok, so i am currently building an iron 427 using the new LSX block and 4 inch stroke crank and 6.125 rods. I'm looking for around 11.5 compression.
Here's my dilema. I was originally intending on using L92 heads and Mahle L92 style pistons. But now I may have changed my mind and want to run LS7 heads. I have already purchased the Mahle pistons and am trying to find out how much camshaft I can run without having P/V issues. What should I do?
1. Ditch the L92 pistons and get some pistons made for the 12 degree head?
And if so who makes a good piston for that? (4.125 bore 6.125 rod -4cc relief)
2. Keep the L92 pistons and just run the L92 heads?
3. Keep L92 pistons and be limited on cam with LS7 heads?

lots of new build ups using those same parts, good thing for the possibility of resale,I am in the process as well almost identical builds,I decided to go with sdpc and purchased thier manley -5 cc 2618 4.125 ft's that can run both 12* and 15* cylinder heads.call
brian over at sdpc he can help you out, dont sweat the mahle's they are a great piston and you should have no problem moving them.

I went through something like this a little while ago. When ordering a set of pistons for my friend he wanted to run 15 degree heads, then swith to 11 degree heads down the line. When we ordered them from JE we talked to one of their customer service people who was really helpful. He said they can cut them on 11 degree angle so that they'll both clear.
I'd suggest calling Mahle and give them the part number. Ask them if the pistons will accept a 12 degree head. You're also going to have a very difficult time measuring the PtV clearance without the thing actually assembled.
