Default I'm trying to go fast and cheap... I know, bad combo!

I read on here a few times this is possible. So here is my question (and yes I am another person that hates these) but how much power do you guys think L92 heads, port matched carbed intake, _____ cam, and a stock 6.0 would make? Magic stick any good for this combo?

How much of a power jump would there be from stock pistons to some 12:1 diamond pistons and a mild clean up port?

Sorry for another "how much" question, but I really am curious. This will be an engine swap car BTW.

i'm not the brightest so take my opinion as it is but judging by the 408 l92/l76 combos out there through an m6 with around a 240/250 stick in them they dyno in the area of 470-485 or so with untouched heads .i can't remember seeing any comparisons between an l76 intake verses a carb intake. as for the compression increase expect the usual 4 % for each point of compression gained. decent port job should pick up 20-25 hp just taking a shot in the dark. hopefully someone with some ACTUAL experience chimes in and helps out.

Fast, cheap and reliable?

No such thing.

20 years in this hobby has taught me one thing.

You can only have two of the three when your building a setup.

1. Fast
2. Reliable
3. Cheap

Take your pick.

I have read some **** about the carb intake. I guess it has it's problems as well, but once it is port matched it does alright.

I won't be stroking the bottom end yet, if this is even the route I go. If I do go this way I will eventually have a decent sized stroker, and some nice parts with CNC'd L92's. For now I'd like to use a stock truck bottom end possibly with forged 12:1 pistons.

Whats the truck compression anyways? 9:1?

I would go with a TEA stage III heads or Livernios, custom cam and a good flowing intake manifold. the reason i say this because there r many 470rwhp+ stock bottom 346ci acheiving these numbers and passed the 500rwhp mark. while the l92\l76 combos r facing difficulties and still strugiling to improve and I am suprised with people who r still cheering for those heads with no reasonable output. flow numbers not everything plus u might find ur self spending more while with less money u would make more power.

I am not against the heads , but its about the right combo. however,if this was a forced induction motor thats a different story with the l92 heads.

it will be a nitrous motor. I got a few plate kits laying around. I will use one of those.

From what I've read, the L92 heads are heavily biased toward the intake side - I'd think that FI would exacerbate that imbalance, not help it. (Sure, higher cylinder pressures will help increase exhaust gas speeds once the valve opens, but I wouldn't think that it would be enough to completely offset the add'l volume...)

Isn't that why people are using the "large split" cams (e.g. 230/242) in the NA engines, to provide a bit more time to empty the chambers due to that imbalance?

Good question. I wonder what kind of power can be had if someone were to clean the intake side up a little, and heavily port the exhaust side? Perhaps that would help bring out better combo's with the l92 heads?
