I'm trying to go fast and cheap... I know, bad combo!
How much of a power jump would there be from stock pistons to some 12:1 diamond pistons and a mild clean up port?
Sorry for another "how much" question, but I really am curious. This will be an engine swap car BTW.
No such thing.
20 years in this hobby has taught me one thing.
You can only have two of the three when your building a setup.
1. Fast
2. Reliable
3. Cheap
Take your pick.
I have read some **** about the carb intake. I guess it has it's problems as well, but once it is port matched it does alright.
I won't be stroking the bottom end yet, if this is even the route I go. If I do go this way I will eventually have a decent sized stroker, and some nice parts with CNC'd L92's. For now I'd like to use a stock truck bottom end possibly with forged 12:1 pistons.
Whats the truck compression anyways? 9:1?
I am not against the heads , but its about the right combo. however,if this was a forced induction motor thats a different story with the l92 heads.

From what I've read, the L92 heads are heavily biased toward the intake side - I'd think that FI would exacerbate that imbalance, not help it. (Sure, higher cylinder pressures will help increase exhaust gas speeds once the valve opens, but I wouldn't think that it would be enough to completely offset the add'l volume...)Isn't that why people are using the "large split" cams (e.g. 230/242) in the NA engines, to provide a bit more time to empty the chambers due to that imbalance?

I know if I go fast cheap it will be a time bomb. At least it will be fun!
