Any bad experiences with SDPC or SLP 402 LS2?

Default Any bad experiences with SDPC or SLP 402 LS2?

First vendor motor lasted 35miles, parked the car for over a year in disgust.

A local vendor gave up on mechanical work halfway through my LS2 build, another local vendor wants $2,500 for assembly and machining which brings a LS2 shortblock using my old H-rods and chain and used stock crank to about $4,300.

SDPC $4,349 + shipping (TX to CA) - Eagle crank, Manley pistons, Scat rods, includes front cover, cams sensors, valley cover, HD Single row timing set, timing chain dampener, crank key and the necessary block dowels and plugs

I have used SDPC for a lot of smaller items and know they give good service. Another option would be a 418 from TSP for $4539. http://www.texas-speed.com/shop/item...d=686&catid=20

There was a thread about some problems with the SLP 402. Do a search on it.
As for the SDPC, I did an install with a friend on his car and had great results, untill a vavle on his AFR heads snapped off and killed it.

Thanks for the heads up.

What type valve broke? I have LS3 heads (mildly ported with sanding rolls) with comp 921 dual springs, Manley stainless intakes and stock exhaust valves.

would you build an iron block 370 with the stock rods,crank and forged pistons?

SAE 495RWH/489RWT

Car runs beautifully
I like the SLP short because it has better parts in it for the money.

that post made no sense ,quote ,i like SLP Better because it has better parts for the money unquote ,He apparently didnt read the post that sdpc put in ,i personally have a Tsp 402 that is on its way from tsp,i would not hesitate to do buisiness with them ,they know what there doing ,also some people hear may have had bad experinces with vendors on this board,that doesnt mean that u will ,u just need to pay attention to whats going on with your motor ,if u want to run Fi ,make sure you are gonna get a set of pistons that will hold up to your application,Basically what i am trying to say is dont skimp out on your build

My post made total sense...
Compare the basic kit from SLP and the basic kit from SD

U get a better crank,rods and pistons in the SLP STANDARD
For ADDITIONAL money u can get the better parts in the SD piece

I think u owe me alittle,I'm sorry

You have to compare apples to apples...if we put the same components into our shorty, I can gaurantee you we'll beat SLP's price! Our basic kit has Eagle crank and Scat rods to keep the price down....more than half of the short blocks we sell leave here with a Callies crank and either Callies or Oliver rods!

Matt do you guy's do install @ SDPC? What kind of labor to complete short block to long block? I bought my L92 heads from you guy's I also have my complete L92 truck intake & injectors. Heads are built by Well's Racing (Machine work) milled .025 with all Manley valves, springs & titanium retainers. I want the L92 block with 4" stroke & pistons & rods to take a 250 hp to 300 hp shot of nitrous. What do I need?
