Default afr ls1 vs l92 ls2

in your opinion, which would make the most power? a ls1 w/afr 205s 90/90 w 224 cam or ls2 w/l92 heads w/l76 w 224cam? both with same comp. ratio.

with the ls2 you would get more cubes and you could stick a larger cam in there. the more cubes you get the larger the cam you can use, a 230 in an ls2 would idle the same as a 224 in an ls1.

Here's an example for the LS2.

LS2 with unported unmilled L92 heads,L76 intake, comp ratio = 10.4
224/230 .581/.591 114 LSA
452rwhp and 415rwtq

Was the PV clearance ok with the cam & heads (L92) I milled mine .025 to get a little more compression. L92/LS3 heads are the way to go.

i say LS2 L92 just because there's more cubes and just as good if not better head/intake #'s (well L76 sucks but you get the idea)

L92 are pretty huge for the 364ci. So Ima have to go with AFRs w/ the FAST 90.

I made great power with the AFR heads and LG Motorsport x3 cam 463hp 414tq on a mustang dyno. My l92 set up,we tried to dyno it,but my clutch would not hold. I still got close to 490hp 430tq on the same dyno. With the clutch holding I will see around 515-520hp 450-460tq. Also the L76 Intake everyone says sucks and falls on its *** at 6,100 rpm's. Mine pulled to 6,500rpm's and held strong all the way to 7,000.I don't think the intake sucks that bad,(i'm sure f.a.s.t can make a better one) I just think some people have no idea how to choose the proper cam to match.

Did you make that with the X3 cam and L92 heads, the 490ish?

Some more details on your setup would be nice! Cam specs? Is the intake ported? How many cubes?

I have a 6.0l here in Australia with ported L92's on it and they work very well. I havn't been able to dyno mine yet as the dyno got water damaged and it won't be running for another week but computer logging under load showed a progressive rise in Cyl/Air all the way to 6500/6600. It didn't seem to be falling over at all. We are expecting 450hp+ with the A6 on a mainlog dyno add some more to convert to dynojet figures.

The 224 cam seems plenty big enough for the 6.0l as the intake valves are a lot bigger than ls1 valves and should flow better than a 224 on a ls1.

cheers

u dont feel that the l92 heads even though its on a six litre needs a bigger cam then a 224?

The highest HP for a 6.0L I have been able to find is with a 224 228 camshaft with cnc'd stage 2 heads. This made around 490 I believe. Lobe is a secret but I think it was an xfi on the intake.

If the intake valve is a lot bigger than a ls2 then surely a 224 on a L92 will flow more than a 224 on a ls2 ?

My car is still nicely driveable with the stock convertor at 750 rpm idle hopefully we can get that down to 620 with some more fine tuning.

I have seen some Big cammed cars that sound great are bastards to drive and don't go compared to well setup smaller cams.

cheers
