Just thought i would put my two cents!

That is good information, thank you! I have been leaning toward something in the 402 to 454 range for a while now. I am rather new to engines other than the LS1, so I still need to know what is required to do the swap. If I decided to go the 408 route or even the 414 route, what else would I need to switch? What will swap over from my LS1? And what would I need to purchase to make the swap possible?

Thanks again!

I think you should just call some sponsors...they can answer all of your questions. jon at TSP is a great person to deal with.

you cant beat 1400 on some high flowing heads with hollow intake valves and prc double springs. all youll need after that is an l76 intake, ls2 tb, cam, and some injectors.

Thanks for the information so far guys...Livernois is selling a 383 LS1 stroker motor that has 10 passes for $5500, they said they have around $9500 in the build. It ran a 10.1x N/A in a 6 speed....Do you think that is a decent deal?

The reason I ask, is I live about an hour away from them so it would be easy for me to pick it up...

depends on a million different things...whats all the components in this motor?

this is just the shortblock right?

this a race motor or street/strip setup?

just do your research before pulling the trigger.

I am looking for an aggressive weekend/strip setup. I would like to drive it on the street, but it wouldn't be my daily driver. Here is the Livernois post:
https://ls1tech.com/forums/sponsor-sales-specials/814944-ls-series-engine-parts-sale-livernois-motorsports.html

It seems to me that it is a good deal...except for the fact that I think it needs racing fuel...correct me if I'm wrong...

its a solid roller meaning you'll have to adjust lash...to me thats not a street/strip motor but more strip w/ 12.9:1 CR you'll need race gas also.

Look around and see what shops are making good TIMES. Not dyno numbers, but TRACK TIMES. And usually it's not places that are just shops. It's usually places that have a respected name in racing. Keep that in mind. You want John Force to build a motor. Not Wal-Mart.

Hey that engine sounds like a good deal, but definately you will need race fuel with that compression. If I were you I would get the 408 iron or 418 aluminum stroker. If you go with Texas Speed, they can custom grind a cam shaft for you at still under $400. They should be able to lean you towards some heads. I wouldn't go higher than 11.5:1 compression for 92 or 93 octane, anyone disagree? In fact, that might be pushing it a little bit. Then custom tune it for nitrous! On the street your power would be alright, but when you hit the Nitrous at the track, damn- watch out!!

I think you need to make an engine with what you want and not buy something already made. That way it means more to you!!
