LS7 Piston Options
Hi. Does anyone have any experience with aftermarket pistons for the LS7? Looking to lower compression and run a large amount of boost on the engine. Any information or piston suggestions? Please advise.

I'm having Wiseco make mine. http://www.wiseco.com/PDFs/Catalogs/AB08/Chevrolet.pdf
They're top notch. They forge and machine their pistons in house, keeping costs low while offering a lot more. That's why I have them making the pistons for my build.

Both Wiseco and Diamond have pistons with the LS7 compatible valve notch for around 650-750 a set. They both make a nice piston that will handle serious power as shelf parts depending on your power adder. If you want to call we can talk about your needs in detail and help get you the right parts.

The rest of the 2618 forging world go though one of the few foundries in its existance, its a unique high grade aircraft aluminum ( or aluminium depending where you come from all the companies use their own proprietary dies.

Fraser,
Wiseco does have there own forging facilities including many different types of forges depending on what base forging and material they are doing. The other American piston companies do not have the same capability to do all new forgings if they wanted the way Wiseco can and does (besides Mahle).
That's how they have dominated some of the racing they have been in when they came in full force as they didn't need the fully machined billet stuff the others had to run and they could keep changing their forgings and have a stronger, lighter and more stress free piston. When you break that forging skin on the bottom of a piston it will be much more likely to crack. You won't usually see formula car pistons made any other way.
Also some of the pistons that are talked about on LS1tech are not machined in house. At least two are forged also machined at Wiseco believe it or not including all Lunatis newer (and better) stuff.
