I'm near done with a forged LS3 for boost setup. The shortblock and parts came from Bruce @ PowrMax, great price, professional work.

Diamond L92 pistons, Compstar crank and rods, 4.060" x 3.622" (376ci), LS3 block, LS3 heads, Stainless intake valves, Comp 921 springs, LS7 lifters, Synergy custom cam, L76 manifold, customized LS2 fuel rail, 75lb injectors.

KCS - I had e-mailed Fraiser at Speed, Inc. a while back and he had mentioned that there was some sort of problem that shows up on a lot of the LS3s where the LS2 seemed to be consistently better. I don't recall the specifics or if he even went into it but basically said the same thing as you. I was suprised to hear this since I would think they would have to meet the same quality standards. If anything I would have thought the LS3 would be better.

I just wondered if these improvements would correct that problem. It would be better to have a slightly bigger bore and CIs.

The LS2 blocks seem spot on 99% of the time. I personally feel the LS2 is the better of the two.
I hear is problem with "Core shift" was aproblem with the older LS3 Blocks. Is this not true?

I agree, I would want the bigger bore but not at the cost of reliability. I'm not saying the aluminum 6.2L blocks are gonna blow up or anything, but it's just not something I would gamble on. Especially on a FI application.

I don't know about older blocks. We just sent back two brand new blocks last week.

Looks like a nice build. Whats the specs on that piston, if you don't mind me asking? Compression height, ring pack, etc?

Is GM using these LS3 block w/ off center bore in their corvettes? Meaning would these blocks pass through QC on their end and be used anyways?
