Cammed my C6, questions... dyno too!
- G5X3 Camshaft, 112 LSA, rod/spring kit
- Underdrive Pulley
- Computer Tune
- Halltech CAI
- LG Long Tube Headers w/ cats
- Corsa Sports exhaust
- Plugs / wires
This install also included a surprise T56 rebuild (since mine decided to go boom) and a new stock C6 clutch.
This is my first "cammed" motor... the last seriously modded motor I had was a turbo I-5 Volvo block. I notice that the engine with the cam decelerates slower while in gear. For example, if I was at 3k RPM in 3rd and let off the gas, the engine won't decelerate as quickly as before, almost as if it's in momentary "cruise control." Also, there are a few little "flat" spots below 2k RPM if I'm in a high gear cruising (4-6). Nothing annoying but I'm just curious about the characteristics of a cammed car and if this is normal. I'm getting used to driving it in stop and go traffic. It's a little harder with the threat of surging below 1500 RPM and the need to give it more gas on clutch release. I think the car needs 3.90s...

When I romp on the throttle in the appropriate gears, though, it's nothing but tire shredding and an endless supply of smooth, immediate horsepower.
I love the extra power but I'm so used to the car that I need to drive a stock LS2 C6 someday... the idle is awesome and the new character of the car is menacing. Also, LG Motorsports is an amazing shop. Great customer care!
Anything I should look out for maintenance-wise aside from changing springs every 30k miles?

You can get a lot of the stumble and cruise issues taken care of if you do a road tune. I bought HP Tuners and did a lot of reading here and on their forum and tuned mine myself. It always starts hot or cold, idles at 750 all day in traffic with ac on. I'd recommend self tuning, it is fun, and HP Tuners has really made it user friendly and easy compared to the old ls1edit days.
Also, if you spent 250 for a ls2portworks.com ported intake, you can count on 10-15 rwhp/tq, I hot swapped mine on the dyno and verified the gains, and you can feel them as they are down low as well as up high.
