Default L92/427 02 Formula 1st+2nd time track results

The 427 has been in my 02 Formula for almost a month but it has been raining everyday in Orlando. I got lucky and had 2 nights in a row that the rain missed the tracks.

My friend Greg (Chevpower) has got the tune real good on the car and he went to Lakeland dragstrip Sat night to get the tune dead on at the track.
I went to Olando Speedworld Fri night after some rain we ran 1/8 for 1 run then 1/4 after 1st run :
60'....1.54
1/8...7.06
MPH..97.83

2nd run:
60'....1.53
1/8...7.04
MPH..98.10
1/4...11.03
MPH..123.65

3rd run:
60'....1.55
1/8...7.06
MPH..97.73
1/4...11.06
MPH..123.42

I was pretty happy for a 1st time out and went to LMP Sat, 1st run Sat just adjusted shift points up from 6500 to 6800 but hit rev lim on 2/3 shift car ran:
60'....1.53
1/8...7.00
MPH..99.10

2nd run Greg raised rev limiter, adjusted A/F (Dynojet WB) low gear was close but top of 2nd+ into 3rd gear took fuel out. Car was at 21* timing, in 1st went to 25* and 26* in top 2nd +3rd run:
60'....1.55
1/8...6.93
MPH..104.20

3rd run Greg took more fuel top 2nd +3rd got to 12.3/12.5 from 12.0 above 6400, pulled back to 25* in top 2nd + 3rd(due to knock), changed 1/2 shift up 100rpm ,2/3 shift down 50rpm run:
60'....1.54
1/8...6.92
MPH..104.03
DA was around 2000' both nights hot and humid FL. Happy with the gains on Sat (thanks Greg) I am waiting on a 95mm Tb from RevXtreme and 100mm Lingefelter maf from Next Level Perf maybe pick up a few more HP, kpa's were 99 to 98 then dropped to 96 above 6400rpm.
The motor is a SDPC L92 427, Texas Speed CnC L92 heads .030 milled, Callies 4.10 stroke crank, Callies Compstar rods,Manley Pistons -8cc, Comp Cams XER 236/248 ..6.01/6.15 ..114lsa, Formato ported L76 intake, 92mm Fast TB, billet 75mm maf(for now), Hooker 1 3/4 LTs, no cats, Borla catback. The car also has a built 4L60(by Greg@ WCR) , FTI 3800 stall, Strange 12bolt w/3.42, Spohn tq arm, Spohn swaybar + LCAs, Weld Alumastar fronts, ROH rear wheels w/Hoosier 335/17 dragradials, raceweight w/me 3550lbs. Car is basically a DD/bracket racer full weight with a/c, Monson stereo, power everything, full interior except - back seat.

Very nice, I'm currently putting together a LS2-402 with a L92 234/244 11.4 CR topend that is slightly milder than yours. I'd be pretty happy if it will go 11.0 have you had it on the dyno?

I think it would pick up big time with some slightly larger headers. Those are good results though for your first time out.

No dyno yet, after I get the 95mm TB and 100mm maf. I dont know how much 1 7/8 headers will help because I'm keeping the 3" Borla catback w/borla cutout. I expect it to run summertime 10.6s(10.3 in cold good air) with the TB and maf , it did pick up a bunch of mph in the 1/8 with the timing and A/F tweaked.

11.doh

very nice man 10s is around the corner great 1st time out numbers and full weight car.

With MAF,TB and bigger headers the car will fly.
Why not 100mm TB???? Do you think 3mm will make a diffrence???

No power adders will be on this car. If everything goes good I'll be keeping my Vortech supercharged Red 98 Formula and selling my stock suspension Purple bird.

The top ringland is higher on these pistons due to the 4.10 stroke. A good nitrous piston has alot of metal above the top ringland so this would not be a good nitrous motor.
