402 Mileage/MPG?
#23
Anyways this is a good thread, because Im getting a very similar combo
Im also gonna be running a 402, through a 6 speed at 11.1 cr
but im running a smaller cam and gonna be making some less hp
all i know is when I had a bolton LS1, me (245lbs and a 220lb pasenger) got 27mpg going to AZ from CA and I went WOT a few times, but most of teh time I cruised at 85mph... 6th gear most of the time

So I talked to TSP today. They're saying if things are done right, theirs no reason the motor shouldn't last just as long as a stock one. That being 150 to 200 thousand miles or so.

He's alright. He works with me too, so it passes time. I knew his brother before I knew him. They're all pretty goofy and their sister is hot, but damn she's ditsy! I can't stand her.
Once I get the car running...should be in the next 5 weeks or so, it'll still be a long time before I can show him up. Break in of course, but I still have the stock rearend! I have major plans for a rearend so I need it to last. I'm talking mini-tubbed with some custom forged wheels and air suspension. It all involves the rearend.

Hmmm you guys bring up a good point. The car was dyno tuned by a well regarded tuner in the vette community, but it was done on a Mustang dyno and while the WOT is spot on, I've not been happy with the idle. It will stay at like 2k when you come to a stop then after 5 seconds go down to 900. Whats really wierd to me is if I'm at highway speeds and put in the clutch it will stay at 2k indefinately which makes no sense to me.
I have V2 EFI live I plan on working on it this summer. I am just not sure how to use it for idle tuning...

It takes a lot of time and iteration. The main table is idle air vs coolant temp. You have to get it dialed in real close (within .5 g/sec) and have the throttle blade completely closed. Once you get it idling normal, then you can go to the modifiers to keep it from stalling on tip in and stuff. That will get you into the low teens at least!

I've got a 408 going together and one of the priorities I expressed to the builder/tuner was gas milage. I'm was hoping for 16+mpg. He thinks it's doable. My car is a stalled A4 so .. it would be awesome if he were able to meet all my goals (<10.99 1/4 and 16+mpg ..NA)
Your car being an M6, I would expect >16mpg in town w/ moderate driving
I'll post back when I get some numbers ... everything should be done by the end of the week.
