As far as rhe wear on the plate, my original LS1 had vitually no wear on the plate after 100,000 miles. I just put a new one in my 427 because I wanted no stone left unturned. I really don't think that the plate wear is something the average LSX/owner has to worry about. If it was gm would have included the torrinton brg. on the LSX high performance engines.

I have a 2006 LQ4 with less than 5K that I'm doing now, on inspection for the cam change this motor had some cam plate wear that was obvious. This motor has hex head bolts that hold the plate. Some earlyer models have bolts. If you check the Vinci web site you can read more about it there. As for chain sets I'm using a single Rollmaster that does have a torrington bearing with billit gears. It will serve my purpose and has a good price.

FYI
I broke my Stock 2005 GTO LS2 chain last Wed going down the highway boosting it in 3rd gear
we made 735RWH last fall, then after about 2000 miles about 130 street passes and 30 or so Drag Strip runs, we dynoed it with the full 3.5 single exhaust and it made 749RWH, this was earlier in the day before the chain broke and bent my valves.
35K on the car.
