Default How large can you machine a LS 1,2,6,7 spring pocket

Just wondering what is the largest diameter spring pocket that can be machined into the ls series heads. I have heard 1.46 being done, anything larger?

Depends.

I hear the worst (too little material under spring pocket) are the L92/LS7/LS3 heads, but you can get around that by using a spacer which allows you to cut a larger diameter, without weakening the port roof too much. But you may need custom/longer stem valves.

As far as diameters go, I really can't help ya there.

I was told by TEA and TSP that it wasnt enough room on 5.3 heads for this to be done. I went with a PSI1513ML that has 220 on the seat and 550 open.
