Default Possible plans for the Camaro..

What's up guys.. the Camaro may go under the knife again here in the beginning of '09..

I've been pondering this for a little while..something to do when I get back from the Desert..

After looking into it, the LSX idea is out. There is too many LSX-Block-only specific things with that Block.

I'm thinking about buying a 6.2l LS3/L92 Block and using my 4.000" Crank with it and building a 418ci Stroker out of it. I plan to use my current L92 Heads, L76 Intake, and Custom Cam with it.
I'll have to do a little converting and re-wiring.

It's just an idea for now..

Do you expect any Gains in HP or is this based on weight?

Yea Merv wtf, you just build this and from the videos and broken track run, looks to be a screamer. Why the heck are you wanting a new block and 16 more CI? Why not get the blower off the ZR1 and call it a day? Or wait for the new CTS-V to come out which is a 550HP Supercharged model (Which currently holds the world record for all STOCK Sedan around the Nurburgring with a 7.59.32 time).

I'm really happy with it..it's a nice simple build.
I don't want to go Forced Induction..just keep it a simple NA Engine. I want it to pull a little harder up top, and I think more Cubes will do it.

More than likely after pricing everything out and comparing everything, when the time for the re-build comes I'm goin to get the block bored .060 over into a 4.060 Bore, and that with the 4.000" Stroke Crank will make it a 414ci, 6.8l displacement. I think that will help it out in the top-end more.

It's actually cammed pretty much in the ideal range.. the Intake restricts the Heads to about 6200rpms, with the Cam it brings it to about 6600rpms max. It pulls like a mother focker from 4000rpms up. No one makes an after-market Intake for these Heads yet.. so I'm stuck with this for now.

The 414ci rebuild would be the most cost effective, I see it actually having a pretty decent gain with the combo of parts here.

i would say if you want alot more cubes lsx is the way to go.i know your intake and heads will already go on a 427 block. keeping it n/a you could get 600hp with it surely. forced induction with those heads could have a wicked top end

Wouldn't more cubes with the same H/C/I bring your RPM range down a little?
The car would pull harder down low and through the midrange, but would probably run out of steam faster.

It will pull much harder up top if you add more cubes, port the l92s (if they're not ported already), and get a single plane intake converted to EFI.

Is the ls3 intake any better than the l76?

Not necessarily.. look at my setup. I have a 3600 Stall and 3.73 Gears. If I had a 4500+ Stall and 4.10's, it would be a different story..

As far as the Intakes go, I want to stay EFI..not the Victor JR. with a Carb. An aftermarket Fuel System can be mated to that Intake, I know that as well, but they are still playing with some of that stuff. That and I would need a Cowl Hood.

The L76 and LS3 Intakes are the same, I looked them up.
The LS7 Intake will only go to the LS7, and them Heads will only fit on a 4.125" Bore.

The Supercharger off of the LS9 would be interesting..I'm just waiting to see how much that would cost out of curiosity.. expecially since it's internally intercooled.

yea fuel injected carb intake...its like this a hood change or motor...makes plently of sense to do a hood to me....a stock fuel system can be mated to that intake with just rails...

the car has 4000 stall and 3.42...you and him are in the same boat...he doesnt have 4.10 or 4500 stall....no excuses...my car traps 94-95 on motor cam only with stock longblock...somethigns wrong with your car....YOU NEED TO FIND OUT THAT FIRST....once your trapping 99+ then consider a intake or motor change....

and if you decide to do another motor this time dont do heavy forged internals....do lighterweight stuff if your not goana use nitrous

Dan, he broke his rear last run, so we don't know what he'll really run yet heh

Jason, he's just an LT1 at heart is why he posts with us still

I don't know, will all LS9s be supercharged?
