Default Swapping Oil Pans on a LS7

Had a LS7 built for my 69 Camaro. Went with a wet sump system using a C6 LS2 pan, etc. After much tweaking, realized that the LS2 pan won't clear my aftermarket subframe despite the manufacturer's claim that it would do so.

I now have to swap the LS2 pan, windage tray and oil pump pick up screen for a LS1 F body tray, tube and pan.

My question is: Can I CORRECTLY swap the pick up screen tubes without removing the front cover and un-bolting the oil pump?

I ask because of all of the traffic about the blue O ring binding, etc.

Thanks in advance.

You do not have to remove the oil pump or front cover to swap the pan and pick up.
Depending on your setup, you may have to raise the engine a little to get the pan off.

Moroso makes a pan for a early body with the LS engine. The pan and pick-up will change easy without removing the cover.

Check,

my question is: Can I get the pick up tube with blue O-ring on the pump with out having the pump loose. In theory I should be able to, however, if you type Blue Oring in the search window, you get all sorts of tales of what a PITA it is to get the tube to mount in the pump w/o binding.

That issue is only for newer f-body guys that are doing cam swaps etc. without taking the pan all the way off.
If you have the ability to get the pan off completely, then swapping out the pick up is all of a 2 minute job, even while having a
