Default LSX Block

Guys I'm in the market for some head studs. I have the cast iron LSX six bolts per cylinder. I just got off the phone with ARP and it appears they don't sell a stud kit for this block. What are you guys running on your LSX and where did you get them. I'm running All Pro six bolt heads. Do I just purchase the standard head stud kit and measure the inner and outer's and buy something to fit?

I used my ls1 2004 & up head stud kit. Then i ordered 16 of the short studs that that come in the ls1 kit that go near the valley cover ( there 2 1/2 in long and 8mm x 1.25)

Check the heads and see what threads they have for the extra bolts. The upper row studs will fit if they are 8mm, but most are 3/8.

Thanks n2Ostroker and Kurt. I tried a 3/8 16 tap, (only 3/8 tap I have) in the upper set of holes without luck. It may be the 8mm your talking about. I'll check with my engine machinest, (my son) to see if he has one. Good idea stroker.

The 8mm is AFG2.550-1LGB from ARP.

ARP does sell a stud kit for the LSX. I have the LSX as well as the LSW-All Pro heads (6 bolts/cyl); however, the set I bought were considered "prototype" bolts. You need to some how get ARP's R&D division, I will dig for the number and post it tonight if I get a chance. ARP's part number on the box is "GM LSX HSK"

That is interesting and thanks for posting the pictures. I ordered ARP's "new" catalog and received the 2007, (early last week). The 07' must be the newest one that they have and it must be what the tech that was answering the phone was using to look up the studs. In light of this I will call them back and ask for R&D or request the part number you have shown. You must have an "in" with them or talked to someone who knew their stuff.

Just call Brian Gruben at SDPC and he will get you fixed up. They have it and ARP makes it. Jay Coombes at ARP will get it for you as well but it will be easier for you to go through SDPC.

Thanks Erik I'll give them a call. Wonder why ARP said they didn't make anything like that for the LSX?

I don't think it is in the regular ARP catalogue just the custom side of ARP Brian had some at SDPC. I actually have to get another set as well here soon.

We keep them here. They aren't prototypes at all, we have been stocking them for quite some time. Just give me or Brian a call and we can help you out.
