SDPC sell's a cam for your center bolt set-up. I have a 2006 & my cam came in from them with only the center hole so the machine shop drilled mine for the 3 bolt. Here is the number for it. SDPC also can get you the correct 3 bolt gear & chain set if you go that way.

I don't fully understand why myself. There is something on this forum about it by one of the TBSS guys. Think they said there's a slight difference in the gear teeth on the recent gears. The post said that if you change to an earlier gear then change to the earlier dampener too.
There's an 05/06 black dampener thing and also a brown/fawn one from later years.
12588670 = LS2 Timing Chain Dampener (black one)

The 07+ LS motors for the most part (Save for Zs) use a single big bolt to hold the cam gear on the cam. This change was due to the cam phasers on the later model trucks/SUVs/etc, so they changed to one core.
The Cam gear to use is an 06 C6 ( Of any kind, LS2 or LS7) cam gear.
I made a post regarding this about the late summer of 06, it should be searchable in here.
