how bad is this?

i just got an ls2 402 installed and i got an ungraded oil pump and when i start the car up it has great oil pressure in fact i have about 60 lbs at idle. but i was watching something on tv yesterday and they said something about a barbell thing in the back of the motor and i cant remember if i had put it in or if it was already installed.

how bad is it if i dont have it installed?

You would have zero oil pressure. What about your oil pressure at idle at full temps?

Sounds like you're fine, and its installed.

oil pressure at idle at full temp just checked is about 57 lbs and sorry havent tuned it yet but it swings up to 75 lbs when the motor revs up

57 lbs at idle is a little high, you should see what it drops down too after a few good pulls, that will warm up the oil.

As far at 75lbs when the motor revs, that is good. You want at a minimum 10 psi for every 1K rpm you turn.

Not sure what you mean that you haven't tuned it yet? I hope you're not talking about tuning the oil pressure, cause....well....you can't haha, unless you swap out the spring in the oil pump for a weaker spring to bring down the pressures, but I wouldn't do that, as you're looking A'ok.

well i havent gotten the pcm tuned yet but like i said i have an upgraded oil pump in the motor so im assuming thats why i have such high oil pressure

just a guess, but maybe it came with the high pressure spring installed on the pump versus the standard pressure. did it come with an extra spring? i though i heard that the slp or melling pump came with the high pressure spring installed alreayd and you had to switch it out if you wanted standard pressure
