damaged block???????/HELP
the damage is a chip in the groove where you would bolt up crank. i have a pic of a normal one and the damaged one. i just wanna know if the block is gonna be useless or if i will have problems in the future thanks alot.
the first one i think is the good one as you can tell. thanks for the help

It looks like that is the main with the thrust bearing. If so the bearing wraps around for the trust area as well as the main bearing. After you install the bearing you won't see it. Also the bearing has a lot of support so it should not be a problem Normally you want as much bearing contact with the main saddle to dissapate heat. Since this appears to be the thrust there is a lot of contact with that bearing.
If it's going to keep you awake at night with worry then get it exchanged. It's not worth the agony. Me, I would run it.

Dont EVER take ANYONES word that somethings been done right. Also, let the machine shop take care of the nick. the last thing you need to do is get in there on the mains and start filing away.
1500 bucks was a great price. Provided everything else checks out, your all good..

......and it's damn funny how the "EXPERT" told you to you to "Send it to the machine shop, have the mains align honed along with the cylinder and cam journal clean up"
