Default LQ9 Questions... Cams heads and stuff

Quick questions... My current mods are in my sig, and I am gonna be purchasing a 2005 Cadillac Escalade LQ9 short block but my questions are.

1.) What Cam would be better? Stock LQ9 or my GM Hot Cam and LS6 Springs?

2.) Would LS6 heads fit/work fine just bolted on like the way they are?

3.) What mods would need to be done or would it just drop into my car?

The reason I ask is because my motor is blown and well 6.0 wouldn't be a bad route. Please help ASAP before someone buys the motor... Thanks

PS. Probablly won't be spraying for a long while

1. Depends on if you want a stock lq9 motor, or a lq9 with a hotcam

2. yes

3. The only difference you "might" encounter from your ls1 to an lq9, depending on if it's an older block or a newer block is that the older blocks have one alternator bolt missing you'll have to drill and tap. Some say it's ok without it, but I'd drill it if it were my car.

I have the Manual Chevy LS1/LS6 v-8's and it says "There is an issue with compression ratio on the LQ9 swap, as it already has a 10:1 compression ratio with the 72-cc LQ cylinder heads.Bolting on the LS6 heads, with their 64-cc chambers, will require a Piston change to get back to a streetable 10:1 compression." The last thing I would want to have to do is replace pistons or anything on the LQ9 block.

Oh. Well yes.

They'll bolt on just fine, but your compression will be around 12:1 unless you either get a dish piston or an aftermarket head.

Would that compression be streetable or would it harm any internals? And how bout if I were to run it with my Hot Cam?

Cam has nothing to do with your compression.

Im not exactly sure what your compression would be... I'm guessing 11.8 - 12.0

Chances are you'll need to run a higher octane gas or you're gonna get too much detonation. Gotta find out what the finished SCR would be. A thicker head gasket will help also.

putting ls6 heads on a lq9 shortblock would yeild 10.9:1 cr, the same as an ls2.
