Default Is a Manual still a manual tranny?

I have hearing the C7 has a paddle shifter and of course the transfer case is in the back of the car. Obviously there obviously cant be linkage that runs all the way back. It is shift by electrical signal? By definition does that still make it manual shift? Obviously it does require manual manipulation, just interesting.

If it doesn't have a clutch, it's an automatic in my opinion. lol

Seriously. The Corvette has had a paddle operated automatic transmission for years. You can also let it work just like a standard automatic. Standard manual transmission has been a no cost option for years. Corvette has yet to use a automated manual transmission like you see in most modern supercars.

A manual has a third pedal.
If there's no third pedal, it's not a manual.

The 7 speed manual C7 has paddles to activate/de-activate the rev-match feature. Is that what you are talking about? Also, manual corvettes have used rear mounted transaxles for generations.

The manual setup: C5,C6,C7 at least.
6/7 manual transaxle as the diff is directly bolted to the trans and located in the back.
There is a mechanical linkage between the shifter and trans. The C7 adds pressure sensors for rev matching.
Has Clutch pedal

Auto:
Auto transaxle 6 speed w/ torque conv and paddle shifters that control the gear you are in. NOT a twin clutch manumatic like the EVO MR and BMW's have.
Has no clutch.

No different than the c5 or c6 besides it being a 7 speed. Paddles are just for rev matching.

The fact of the matter is in a good auto/manual like the porsche unit or the gtr is better and faster. You can have all the third pedal glory you want but 9 out of 10 times that "auto" manual is faster. The computer is simply faster, never misses a beat, and allows you to drive better witbout having to worry about anything more than a quick pull of a paddle.

No doubt the dual clutch autos are badass transmissions but they are heavy and expensive in every way.

Sure I'd like one in my rx7 but it just isn't happening.
