l83 turbo build questions My buddy has a 2014 silverado with an l83 and he's looking to make a very reliable 500 whp with a budget single turbo kit. His max budget is around $3000, less would be better but he doesnt want to cut any corners that could sacrifice reliability. I am pretty well versed in turbo kits and LS engines, but my knowledge pretty much stops at gen 4. Any gen 5 specific issues that need to be addressed with a low boost application like this? He plans on keeping the boost below 10 pounds, and have a local shop that is very experienced with tuning turbo LS's do all the tuning.
Here is the current budget plan-
AFR gauge - 150
Boost gauge - 80
exhaust manifolds and tubing - 100 (custom fabbed from junk headers)
denmah turbo kit from vsracing - 868
tune + dyno - 500
total - 1698
This budget however does not include fueling, mainly because I have no idea what a direct port engine needs fueling wise. I heard that the stock injectors are pretty much maxed when running e85, so im thinking they could handle 500 wheel on 93 but not on e85. Would it be worthwhile to upgrade the fuel system to run e85 for anti knock purposes or would 93 octane be enough to prevent knock?

I have a 2014 sierra single turbo. 500 whp is doable on the stock fuel system with meth, actually you can squeeze a little more out of it but it takes a GOOD tuner to do so.
Put all the money you can into making or buying the best turbo kit you can, then save for a cam swap.
