A little anxious I see...I think it's a little per-mature to want to drop such a large amount of money when the the engine hasn't even been proven yet. I would wait until the engine has been around for a little while and when the aftermarket is ready to support. I feel the LS7 is the engine to buy if you can't wait.

To be honest $7k is not that bad. Just wait until the aftermarket world gets a hold of this engine and invents all off the different options for it. That price will go from $7k to $27k. All of the premier companies like Katech, Lingenfelter, LME, Thomson Automotive, etc will have these engine suped up. Also, I wouldn't buy the 1st version of the LT1, because it's going to be the entry level. Yes, it'll be awesome as hell. But, then the next versions will be the LT2, LT3, LT6 and then the ever so awesome LT7 that will be a 7.0 and you'll be wanting those versions as the motor progresses. Just like the LS1 5.7 progresses to the 6.2 LS3, LS6 and 7.0 LS7.

Just an FYI, Texas Speed & Performance have a head they're R&D-ing right now. It's got some interesting specs.

Those haven't even been announced, much less coming out anytime soon. If the kid needs and engine, he needs and engine now...not one that might be coming out in the next 5+ years. The LS6 was 3 years after the LS1, the LS2 being 8 years and the LS3 being 9 years.

And at the same time, why would you wait for those LTx engines when GM will be surely coming out with the LU1, LU2, LU3, LU6, LU7?

Don't make assumptions about what GM is going to come out with in light of the strict fuel economy and emissions regulations coming.

There is a very little available in terms of aftermarket DI injectors and fuel pumps, and it will be a while before you see an affordable market for them. It's like getting aftermarket PFI stuff in the 1980s.

LU has already been used for quite a few engines. I stopped looking them up at lu7 and every one had already been used at least once, ie...lu1, lu2, lu3, lu4, lu5, lu6, lu7.

I read somewhere the other day that every combination of 000-zzz has been used for RPO option codes so there's going to be ones that are reused...like LT1 has been used three or four different times now.

This GM article (2013.11.07) passed under my radar and perhaps for others too. So here's a link to what seems to be confirmation that the crate engine is under consideration. Hopefully (it most likely will) the LT1 will be offered as one soon. Keeping antennas tuned... Anybody have further info?

I just wish they'd stop overusing monikers like "LS6" and "LT1". Yeah, they were the stuff back in the day, but come on - use a little creativity.

And for that matter, what the heck does "Magnum" mean anymore?

We had ours on display at SEMA.

We have them on order from GM and will receive them just as soon as they become available. As usual we will match/beat any advertised price.
