Has anybody heard if and when the new Corvette LT1 will be available as a Crate motor?

Yes, I'm also interested as I need to find an engine to replace the previous crate engines of the LS3/7 type which no longer meet emission standards here. Also I need an engine with less CO2 otherwise I have to pay hefty penalty taxes (around 20K)

A couple of months ago that comment would have had people laughing in your face.

As soon as it is released we will be on it. The problem is going to be the harness and ECU for it, since most of the time GM doesn't release those parts with the engine ie LS9 crate.

They want 'Santa Claus' (free money) as their leader and have their liberty taken away from them by the government.

I got word that there will not be a LT1 crate engine available until atleast SEMA 2014, maybe even later. Chevrolet Performance Parts (CPP) is going to hold off releasing it until they can offer a harness and ECM.

I would wait and see how the direct injection plays out for a while. Whether it causes deposits all over the intake valve like other manufacturers that are fighting that issue or if by some miracle, GM's EGR and PCV system don't send oil vapor in the intake tract to be deposited on the intake valve. I'm not even sure how much a catch can would help since there is zero fuel washing the valves down. Just a little bit of vapor is going to be bad. Seafoam every few months maybe?

I'm really hoping for the crate to show up at SEMA this year in november. I need a motor by the end of the year.

Price on the LT1 long block is in the $7000.00 range plus GM wants a $3500.00 core charge.

I hope the Chevrolet Performance Parts crate engine drops the core.
