I highly doubt it will make more than the LS7 and it makes about 475 to the wheels. I say none of the above. The LT1 will make 420 to the wheels in stock form.

Digging around the internet and come across this image from back in 2011 about theoretical engines for the ATS-V....

Check out the specs on the V8. Was this an early preview to the LT1 in testing? Wonder who came up with those numbers?

What I'm wondering is how long is this engine gonna be in the C7 Stingray? You guys think they'll give this car a power bump after a few years like they did with the C6 going from the LS2 to the LS3?

They will not because the V6TT is coming.

negative. not with restrictions on how many MPG's a car must make in the future. im sure obama or someone else in the govenment today will get that law pushed through. GM and ford will have to start looking into fuel effcient means of making power such as TT v6's or something similar.

I would tend to agree if....GM stayed with the LS3 in the C7, they didn't switched it right to a new engine, doubt you'll see that type of increase in the first few.. tweaks to the LT1 but not an "LT2"

That ATS-V v8 looks like a beefed up version of what's in the auto Camaros now, not the DI LT1. I think it'll have more tq and better mpg. Edit: I see the DI now. I still think it will have more tq.

Didn't GM sway away from the v6tt because it provided the power but not mpg gain for a lot of added complexity and weight and cost?

GM released the numbers for the LF3, which is a TTV6, and it basically duplicated the LS3, even for MPG. My guess is they built it for places that tax displacement.

Couldn't you also say they would not and list the 97 to 04 LS1 as the reason.

And let's be honest the LS2 is a Gen IV block and throttle body; with a Gen III head, cam, and manifold setup (I should know I own one).

The LS7 (vette) and the L76 (Holden) were the first true Gen IV engines placed in GM cars with the L76 (Vortec 6000), and L92 in the trucks and SUV's.

Hopefully GM can enhance the Active Fuel Management system to allow for better gas mileage in multiple areas so they will not have to go to a TT V6.

Examples for AFM enhancement:

1. Set the ECM/TCM to down shift 1 gear and enable AFM at say 35mph on a level road (for the standard 6 speed auto). By increasing the engine rpm slighly with a lower gear and deactivating half of the cylinders you may improve gas mileage.
And set the system so that when the throttle exceeds 1/3 input to go back to all 8 cylinders (or 6 for the V6 engines).
-note: this is assuming the ECM can detect if the vehicle is in a incline, decline, or level environment (I would really like to know what the Gen V's ECM is capable of).

2. Set the ECM to monitor brake peddle input and vehicle speed.
If the vehicle speed is zero and brake is engaged then activate AFM and (if necessary) increase engine rpm by say 200 to 300 rpm for proper idle.
Have the ECM deactivate AFM once the brake peddle is released (so that by the time you put your foot on the gas peddle you have all cylinders available).
-note: Would not work so well for people that do left foot braking.

Just food for thought...

Yep. http://www.worldcarfans.com/11305255...ed-with-455-hp

Gotta say I'm a little disappointed considering the 5.3L got a 40hp bump (315hp to 355hp). Was really hoping the 6.2L would also get a 40+hp increase and put out 470 or 480hp.

I was going to guess that exact number after I went with one million.

Its got to be the usual story - they are sandbagging the engine for the first year. Fast forward 5 years, GM bores out the block, bolts on a super charger and the same thing spits out 900 hp.

Disappointed? lol! Who cares what it's rated it, as is typically the story with the General's V8's, it's going to be severely underrated anyways. Let Ford keep on publishing the huge numbers, I'm content watching GM's just pump it out on the ground
