Loose steering Hello everyone,
I am so sick of loose, and wobbly steering. I have a 1996 Trans am. I replaced the rack and pinion with a 2001 unit which was remanufactured. It was supposed to be a V8 SS "rack". I've read the LS "Racks" have a tighter turn, and in general steer better. Well my car can't turn to the left as much as it can to the right. I had the car aligned, and the guy who has had a lot of experience said this was the only way to get the alignment done. I've got some play in the wheel that I can feel when on a one lane road that takes more precision. Sometimes I feel what seems like the road pulling the wheel a little bit too. Once I turn the steering wheel to where it strongly engages the turn of the tire, it steers well there's just a very small amount of uncontrolled movement/play in the steering, and tires. It's driving me nuts. Any help would be GREATLY APPRECIATED! THANKS!

Take it to someone who really knows what he is doing. He aligned it with the wheel turned to the left instead of centered. Or the rack and pinion was installed wrong. One or the other or both.
