Moser 9" rears... any interest?

Same here. But $2400 doesnt sound like a group purchase price. We all saw what happened with the WS6 store rotors. He sold over a hundred sets when he thought he would only move maybe 30. Price sells. Id agree with the original thread on the price under 2k. I WOULD buy one if someone were so inclined to sell us kits at under 2k. And i mean a kit that has either a detroit or some kind of LS, not a spool. I might even consider paying the $950 for the 4chABS housing kit if the center was at a reasonable discount. I have heard of people building new (non moser) centers and making money selling them for $650, with Detroits. If someone offered this as an option i would throw the money down now. If not then i will continue to shop for a 3rd member that isnt $1500. I refuse to pay that for a chunk.

A friend of mine ordered a 9" from moser with the detroit locker, 35 spline axles, daytona pinion support and 4.10 gears for 2600. Recieved it in 3 days too. I'd like to buy one but I'd rather pay the extra 200 and get the bigger axles and support.
Oh yeah, another friend of mine had a 9" rear put in his car be a local shop. They used a Strange housing but some Japan center section, and the damn thing doesn't have an oil fill hole. lol. They told him to add oil, he has to pull and axle. wtf. So buyer beware.

There has to be a cheaper way to do the center sections though. Think about it. If you dont plan on running 600rwhp, then do you need much more than what came in an old bronco? DLS offered a rear thats $2200 and they use a ford motorsport chunk. A little better, but still. Most of the cost is in the chunk. I think the "ready to bolt up" rear for $950 shipped with abs is a deal, no doubt. Damn good deal considering the work put into the pinion angle and perches. Not to mention Moser axles and brand new bearings, all bolted into accept the factory suspension. 2 thumbs up. Id pay $950 for that. But $1500 for a chunk? Forget it. Im half tempted to just find one in a parts vehicle or junk yard. Heck, or even buy all the peices on my own.

For instance, there are businesses on ebay selling chunks with standard case, Detroit Locker, any gear ratio, 31 spline plus a yoke for $530 shipped. $530 + $950 = $1480 Is there something different about this? So it isnt a moser 3rd member, but the whole combo is stronger than a 10 bolt. It should all go together just like the moser center would, wouldnt it? What makes the Moser center section worth $1000 more?
Im not tyring to be a pain in the ***, but i just want to do my research before unloading a large sum of money on something that could have been done MUCH MUCH cheaper. If you think about it, $1000 is a free full exhaust; or a complete cam, roller rockers, chain, oil pump and gasket kit; or suspension stuff. It doesnt have to say moser on the side of it to make me happy.

I can do a Moser 9" with our T/A mount, with a spool, your choice of gears, 1350 yoke, for $2,200.00 shipped anywhere in the 48 states. Add $45.00 for gun drilled axles. Add $130 for an aluminum center section. Bob

As mentioned before, the cheapest and most reliable way to get a 9" is to order the housing/axle/bearing package from Moser and finish the rest locally or do it yourself. Moser is notorious for crappy gear setups anyway. Order a center chunk somewhere else, or build one yourself and save the grief and some $$.
What would be a group purchase price for a Housing/Axle/Bearing package run these days?

ABS - + 75.00
New ABS rings - +100.00
I will do free shipping, and if 3 people get in on the group buy I can lower the price more.
Thanks

Im in for the housing/axle/bearing package. Who else? It sounds like we only need one more to do it. Like i said earlier, just get a center section from someone else and get this housing/axle/bearing package. SAVE YOURSELF $1000 on a 9" kit!!!
